I read someone's site here-sorry that is wrong. I have worked with some exotic animals-yes all cats have a purr-to a different degree.
It varies in detail from cat to cat (e.g., loudness, tone, etc.), and from species to species, but can be characterized as a sort of tonal buzzing. Some cats purr so strongly that their entire bodies vibrate.
I am sure of this through personal experience--but you can read this.
Cheetas and the Tiger do purr the puma and or the Cougar make a noise similar to a purr. The following members of the cat family do not purr Lepoard,Lion Lioness,Ocelot,Serval,and Caracal

all car purr and the cheeth is a cat or frline
all cats, large or small purr, we're just used to hearing the big ones roar
They purr and poop, just like the small cats do...
Yes, they are the only big cat that purrs.
