is my Dog homosexual

My friend has a a poodle like I have and he asked me if I would allow my Dog to breed with his , his female Dog was fully in heat and there was a lot of dogs trying to get in to the house to her but when we put my dog in the room with his Dog my dog just would not even go to her.

Then when i was leaving my Dos tried to have intercourse with one of the Male stray Dogs outside my friends house.

So I would like to know if My Dog is a homosexual, and could this be my fault because when I got him as Pup I named him twinkle toes

  • He could well be - i doubt it's because of the 'twinkle toes' tag though!

  • First of all, don't breed your dog just because it's the same breed - and if you can convince your friend not to breed his, that's even better. there are way too many dogs without homes now, and the stress and physical damage to the female and the medical costs far outweight anything he will get by selling the puppies. It can also cause him to lose his female, and many cannot give birth safely.

But to answer your question - dog's hump dogs not for sexual reasons, but for dominance - the dog doing the humping is showing the others he is the alpha. Male dogs will hump male dogs, female dogs will hump female dogs.

  • No - 2 novice owners and 2 maiden dogs are a recipe for failure when attempting a mating. Breeding dogs is more than just putting a male & female together & hoping for the best.

You did have both dogs eye-tested for PRA before you attempted this mating didn't you? Breeding puppies who subsequently go blind can lead to the breeder having to pay expensive damages to the new owners.

  • please tell me this is a joke... ok first of all dogs just like every other species aside from humans have no concept of gender identity (differing boys from girls), so any name you give the dog has no impact. The humping another male dog thing, that is an expression of dominance, your dog was saying I'm in a higher standing than you (the other dog). Please do not breed, the first part shows both you and your friend to be irresponsible owners.

  • He's dominant, now not gay -- dogs mount other dogs to show dominance, nothing to do with intercourse in any respect. He may "avoid" ladies, however which you can bet he will not preclude one that's in warmth --- which is the only time dogs mate, they should not have intercourse for fun the way in which people do. Get him neutered, he is undoubtedly historic sufficient.

  • his name has nothing to do with it, some dogs just aren't 'up to the job' also there are enough dogs in rescues without people having more puppies.

  • Noooo!

    Are you?

    No dog can be gay!

    But you can

You trying to get it off your chest?

  • thats strange. never heard that before. but nothing to do with the name, they could care less.

  • Your dog's orientation is biological and some dogs are gay.

I'm sure he doesn't understand that his name isn't very masculine.

  • may it is but the name has nothin to do with it
