  • Go to Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter if you're on XP.

  • If your using Windows XP, make sure you disable any A/V software you are running first...then do the following.

Right click My Computer, click Manage

Click Disk Defragmenter, highlight your C: partition and click Defragment

  • If it's windows you go to the properties of any of your drives (like C: for example) and then go to tools and click on defragment now

  • Depends on the OS. Windows Vista look for Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Degramenter. XP is similar location.

  • right click the disc u want to defrag and properties tools tab defragment now

  • any of the above will work, but you can also go to Start, then select "run" and type the following into the text box: defrag c:

    that should do it too.

  • Start > Programs > System Tools > Disk Defrag

Let that run for a while :)

  • Use http://www.defraggler.com/

Otherwise, install Linux and you will never have to worry about fragmentation again.
