you need to understand what a microburst is..A microburst is a very localized column of sinking air, producing damaging divergent and straight-line winds at the surface that are similar to but distinguishable from tornadoes which generally have convergent damage
the scale and suddenness of a microburst makes it a great danger to aircraft, particularly those at low altitude which are taking off and landing....such as Delta airline's flight 191.
Yes, if the airplane gets caught in a microburst, it will be affected and will usually require some very quick reaction from the pilot to get out of it.
However you don't need to worry, since modern day weather radars on board aircraft, and doppler radars on the ground can detect microbursts and so helping the pilots avoid them all together.
Microbursts are rare and are most likely to be found in the vicinity of thunderstorms or convective activity (as was mentioned earlier). They are generally small (no more than a couple miles in diameter), but are defined by having an intense downdraft that can affect any aircraft in flight.
If you are flying in good weather, you are extremely unlikely to encounter one.
Microbursts are rather rare and only occur in thundery and stormy conditions. They are very volatile and will affect any plane, no matter how big they are. If you are going up on a calm day there is no need to worry about them.
One of the artifacts I keep on my bookshelf here is a small fragment of Delta 191, picked up in the field where a microburst brought it to the ground just short of the runway.
But we don't worry about microbursts anymore, as they are now detectible by specialized radar deployed at all major airports.
I was at an airshow outside of Atlanta about 5 years ago and they announced a micro burst at the edge of the field. They stopped the airshow and when the airshow performer landed, it took 6-7 people to hold down a tiny Piper Cub!! The weight of the people probably out weighed the Cub. It also destroyed many vendor booths as it continued. I've been in two micro bursts and they are like being in a small tornado.

But you will be fine.
