Concern over possible digestive problem?

I recently got sick on Wed. my lower back was in pain and I felt sick to my stomach and hardly ate. That night it felt like I was going to throw up but nothing would happen. Started having diarrhea also. Went to the doctor on Thursday drew blood and took urine sample. Doctor said it sounds like I just got a virus but I'm concerned because I have been having diarrhea for the past three days and nothing has changed. The doctor gave me a medicine that should have helped the diarrhea but hasn't! I still have the stomach ache and am concerned as to what it could be. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Michelle

  • Did they do a pregnancy test? Also, wouldn't it make sense if the medication isn't working, to coal your doctor and tell him that? Possibly get a new medication that does work? Also, you said you were having lower back pain, have you also been having urinary problems (peeing a lot or not hardly peeing at all)? That's a sign of kidney problems, and the body can have diarrhea due to stress on other parts of it. You need to go back to the doctor and demand he figure out exactly what is wrong with you. If it is just the flu, drink plenty of fluids and rest. But if he missed something, wouldn't you rather find out sooner than later? Doctors tend to have so many patients, they just hand out prescriptions for the most likely cause, without looking further into it. Your gut is telling you something else is wrong. I'd trust my gut over a overworked doctor any day.
