the serial number is AF16654. ive looked everywhere to try to decode it but i cant find anthing. i just want to know what year it is. is there a trick?
is there a model name? you might be able to find it.
the other guy's answer is not accurate, he's not aware there H&R collapsed around 1988, the current H&R has nothing to do with the H&R that made your revolver.
the old H&R made inexpensive rifles, shotguns and a variety of small caliber revolvers. they made revolvers from the 1930s to late 1970s.
I think the AF code point it to either the beginning of production pre-1940 or end of production post-1970.
keep looking around ,you might find something. brush up on your google-fu.
Well, if you are talking about a Huffy from the past 25 years or so then the serial number doesn't provide the typical person any information except the year of manufacture. The remaining numbers signify the production sequence and sometimes identify the factory which will make absolutely no sense to anyone. Unlike an auto VIN which provides many details about the car, a bike serial number means nothing. If you are talking about a U.S. made Huffy from pre-1985 there is usually a separate date stamped somewhere on the frame... but even that won't provide you with any additional information.
I have hit a dead-end trying to put some history behind my H & R 22 Special (9 shot) revolver. It has a serial number where the grips should be (grips are gone), Ser. #533102. Remington has nothing to say about my gun, except that a 'fire had destroyed all of the pre-1944 records'. Does anyone know how I can get some info about manufacturing date, where this gun was sold to a consumer, and the consumer's identity? My gun was found in the ground, back in the 1960s (supposedly 'around the back of Al Capone's hideaway' in Chicago). It appears to be in serviceable condition (missing grips, and a locked-up hammer/trigger..was there a spring inside the handle?) Mail me at [email protected] Greg
