Because their whole political ideology is based entirely upon two completely flawed practises:
Number 1: The Trickle-down theory. Even just a bit of thinking about this theory will reward the thinker with the knowledge that there is nowhere near enough money trickles down to sustain even a small part of a capitalist economy! So the Conservatives always need to increase taxes, which the media then omit to report!
Number 2: To get money to direct upwards (so it can 'trickle-down') they need to take it from the poorest: Which realistically means that they significantly reduce the consumer-power of the majority. In an entirely consumer-based economic system, like Capitalism, this will only ever generate economic failure, which, of course, the media only report while the Left are in power.
However, the Conservatives retain almost 100% media support, and the media control humanity (a fact which was confirmed over 50 years ago) so the negative effects of Conservative politics - which are beyond measure - go almost completely unreported.
In the UK, the Conservatives increased Value Added Tax to 20%; generating mild outrage in the media for just one day. Had the Left have increased VAT to 20%, we'd still be hearing about it!
