10" Bosch table saw. Freud Dado set.?

when stacking dado to 5/8+, not enough room on machine part of arbor (shaft) before threads for nut, used thinner outside spacer on inside as per manual therefore cut is not true. Any ideas?

  • Do not use a smaller spacer washer. The original is designed to have a little spring type action and tightens the Blade/Dado Set true. Seems strange that the arbor shaft on a 10" saw is too short for a 5/8 stack dado, but I'll take your word on that.

About the only thing you will be able to do without spending money on a different type of dado cutter, is figure your dado width, divide it by two, set up the dado for 1/2 the width of the finish dado,(IE: 3/4" divided by 2 is 3/8") make one cut, then move your fence and make a second cut. If cutting multiple parts, cut all of them and then move the fence and cut all of them again. Make practice cuts on scrap pieces to make sure your set up is correct before making cuts in your good parts.

I will go online and find a couple dado heads that will work for you, in case you want to spend some money.

eBay also has several adjustable dado heads available. Just search on eBay for "Wobble Dado Cutter"

  • There's no easy way that I know of. Either get a new motor with a longer shaft or machine the current shaft a few more cm with threads. BTW, threading (especially left handed threads) on tool steel is really tough. Don't forget, these are left hand threads.

  • Feed the wood slower...The kerf of the blade must be no more than slightly below the gutter between the tooth. You might have a construct up of pitch on the enamel. Use Mineral Spirits to scrub. Make certain the blade is not warped, and if all this fails...Have it sharpened. I agree one thousand% on the carbide enamel part as good.

  • If its a bench top saw those aren't really made for that purpose, you would need a regular contractor table saw

you will need to make two passes to make a thicker groove
