Photoshop problem, CS3, ?

Ok, So when I use photoshop cs3, i get this problem, when I use the pen tool or somthing it creates a new layer called shape, aparently called a vector layer, instead of doing it on the current (preffered) layer.

It's a problem because I need to keep an option called "keep to neutral colour black" or somhing, How do I fix this problem, Many thank you's to the person that submits a working answer.

The reason I need this is because Im making a lightsaber and the layer MUST be on SCREEN mode so as to be able to colour in, instead of lightsaber remaining white.

  • In Photoshop, when you choose the pen tool you need to change it's options. You may be able to do what you want by creating a path and then stroking it. To do this, look at the top of the Photoshop window. On the left you will see three options. One looks like an empty box, the one next to it looks like the same box with a pen in it. Choose this option. Now create your light sabre shape. Select the brush tool and change the brush width and type to ones which you want for your light sabre. Now choose the pen tool again and right-click on the path you created. Choose stroke path from the menu and in the box that appears choose brush. Now click on ok.

  • All I can suggest is that you flattern your image then use the pen tool. It doesnt sound like a software problem, and I think your just confused along the way. It will be a missunderstand, so if flattening the image then using the pen doesnt work I suggest finding a forum or looking under help of you Photoshop C3 Program. Hope This Helps !

  • I've always chosen to ignore the colour profile on Photoshop and when opening a picture choose to use the embedded colour profile of the picture. If you want to get everything spot on ie screen, printer, scanner you will probably have to invest in one of those hardware colour profile analyzers - but thats more for professional graphics people...
