Mark up by percentages, help!?

Hi

Ive recently been promoted into Sales (Yay me!) and im having problems remembering how to mark up by percentage from Cost prices, as I've not been the best at maths in the past and would really be grateful for a little help, without having to badger my boss again and again :)

So I have a cost price of £38.04 and need to mark this up by 35%. How do I work this out?

Cheers :)

Update:

You guys are stars, thanks for the help :)

  • The cost price is £38.04.

To mark this up by 35%,

multiply this (the cost price) by 1.35.

    £38.04 x 1.35 = £51.35.

  • The easiest way to mark up based on percentages is to take the number that you want to markup (in your example 38.04) and multiply it by 1+ the decimal format of your percentage (in your case 35%, the decimal format is .35, so 1+.35 = 1.35)

    So, the markup price would be 38.04 * 1.35 = 51.354 so £51.35

    Hope this helped!

  • answer = £51.354

To mark up something by percentages you multiply | the original price x 1.(the percentage you want to increase by).

    In this case £38.04 x 1.35 = £51.354

You do the opposite if you want to mark down by percentages. divide

  • You simply times the cost price by 1.35. You put the percentage after the 1.

So in your case it would be

    38.04x1.35= 51.35

IF you wanted to minus that percentage off the cost price you do

    38.04/1.35=28.17

  • (£38.04 / 100) * 35 = £13.314 = £13.31 this is the profit you make (so the amount you will mark it up by), so marked up it would be:

    £13.31 + £38.04 = £51.35

hopefully that's right, if not that's rather embarrassing

  • 38.04 * (1+35%) = 51.354

  • i've got self assurance it is right... Your paper maybe out of fifty and what you get (say 39/50) is your uncooked mark. The examination board them convert this right into a united statesmark, so as that the mark is a uniform mark. So, as an occasion, that 39/50 could be ninety united statesmarks, meaning you could have won an A* grade. i'm no longer totally constructive in this, yet i think of united statesmarks are designed to artwork in the scholars favour.

  • 38.04 / .35 = answer + 38.04

  • £38.04*1.35=£51.35

    (best answer please)
