Which do you consider?

Hi ladies, first of all good luck :0) I started spotting on the 5th, it lasted until the 11th which I actually got my (red) period. So which day do I consider the first day? I mean when I say spot, it was literally ONLY on the paper when I wiped, never even had to wear a liner. Wanted to know since we weren't careful yesterday and if the 11th was my actual start date I'd start ovulating today. If there's still little swimmers in there I could conceive (which FYI I wouldn't mind a 4th at all). Sounds silly that a mother of 3 is asking this question, but I've NEVER had a spotting situation.

One more question... I also researched that if you conceive a day or two before you actually start ovulating you're more likely to have a girl since they live longer? I would love another little girl :0) Thanks for your answers... Baby Dust **************
