Are cats as pets haram?

I've always wanted a cat. They're sooo cute, but my dad won't let me have one, he says it's haram to have any pet at home. I want to know if there is a source in the Qur'an that indicates having cats as pets is haram.

    Totally halal as you long as you take care of it and clean it according the way the vet tells you.

    And make sure to do wash you hands or do wudu after touching the cat ( in the safe side)

    no its not haram as the prophet companion abo horira is know because he kept a pet kitten and the prophet said its ok to have pets as long as you take care of them and they are left to go free in the house
