How do you hook up two separate speaker systems to one computer?

I currently have a HP Media Center PC and would like to hook up another speaker system to it.

Currently I have a Creative speaker system, it has two smaller desk top speakers and a sub-woofer. It connects to my PC through a standard AUX cable into the back port of my PC.

I would like to hook up another system, one consisting of 2 desk top speakers and a sub-woofer, this system also connects to a PC with a AUX cable.

I just need to know whether I need to purchase a AUX split-er or could I just plug the AUX cable into the port that is in the front of my computer?

  • You just need to find a way to plug it in, it doesn't matter how.

Then right click on the sound icon

    Click playback devices

and enable both of your sound systems. (Both should show up)

  • Windows by default can only play through one output media device at a time. If you ever checked your sound and device settings, you'll notice you can only set one sound peripheral as the default audio device.

Even with two sound cards installed, only one speaker pair will be active and playing sound through it.

Buy a bigger speaker setup and use it instead of trying to blend a bunch of smaller speakers together... Unless you're really good at splicing cables, I wouldn't even try cabling them together to one AUX port.
