Cake contest???

I am in a cake contest and i need ideas for cakes. I REALLY need awesome ideas on a cake.... Like something that will win because it lookst the most exciting or funny or.... ANYTHING!!! Just tell me what to look up on the internet.

Please direct me to ideas that have pics. i need to know what i'm making.

    I like to make a white cake (not yellow), and put raspberry and apricot fillings in it. I frost the layer, then add the jams. Always a big hit. But.......check this link out too....

  • If you haven't checked out Wilton, you should because they have catalogs with great examples at their store and on their website. They probably have a store near you where you can pick up a physical catalog but there's alot on their website too. Sometimes crafty stores that sell cake pans and accessories will carry their catalog as well. They are the cake experts!

    Black Magic Cake

    1 3/4 c Flour; Unbleached; Sifted

    2 c Sugar

    3/4 c Cocoa; Baking

    2 ts Baking Soda

    1 ts Baking Powder

    1 ts Salt

    2 lg Eggs

    1/2 c Vegetable Oil

    1 c Coffee; Black; Strong

    1 c Buttermilk

    1 ts Vanilla Extract

    Instructions:

    --------------------------HUNDRED DOLLAR FROSTING--------------------------

    1/4 c Butter Or Regular Margarine

    3 oz Semisweet Chocolate; 3

    1 lg Egg

    2 c Confectioners' Sugar

    1 tb Vanilla

    1 tb Lemon Juice

    1 c Walnuts; Chopped

    Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in

    a mixing bowl. Add eggs, oil, coffee, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat with an

    electric mixer set at medium speed for 3 minutes. Pour batter into greased

    13x9" baking pan. Bake in preheated 350~ oven for 40 minutes or until the

    cake tests done. Cool in pan on rack. Frost with Hundred Dollar Frosting.

    Cut into squares. HUNDRED DOLLAR FROSTING: Combine butter and semisweet

    choclolate in a double boiler top. Place over hot water, stirring until

    melted. Remove and cool well. Add egg and stir vigorously. Stir in

    confectioners' sugar, vanilla and lemon juice. Beat until smooth. Stir in

    walnuts and frost cake with icing.

    INGREDIENTS

    CRUST:

    1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs

    3/4 cup finely chopped nuts

    1/4 cup sugar

    1/3 cup butter, melted

    FILLING:

    4 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

    1 1/4 cups sugar

    4 eggs

    1 tablespoon lemon juice

    2 teaspoons grated lemon peel

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    TOPPING:

    2 cups sour cream

    1/4 cup sugar

    1 teaspoon grated lemon peel

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    DIRECTIONS

    In a bowl, combine crumbs, nuts and sugar; stir in butter. Press onto the bottom of a greased 10-in. springform pan; set aside. in a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, beating on low speed just until combined. Add lemon juice, peel and vanilla; beat just until blended. Pour into crust.

    Bake at 350 degrees F for 55 minutes or until center is almost set. Remove from the oven; let stand for 5 minutes. Combine topping ingredients; spread over filling. Return to the oven for 5 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

    Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate overnight. Remove sides of pan. Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before slicing

  • if you make an ice cream cake with orange sorbert and vanilla ice cream with broken up chunks of butterfinger bars and a little extra caramel it is excellent my mom makes it for me every b day

    and for fun she leaves a big chunk of butterfinger in it and whoever gets it, gets a prize... usually a dollar but you can make the prize what you want
