  • you are absolutely right to be concerned about your niece. she does seem to suffer a self esteem problem, one that you have recognised. she is using her weight as an excuse for other problems. since she is very young her body will be going through many changes, she needs your support and help as her older wiser aunt. explain to her that at the moment her body is going through hormonal changes, changes that are preparing her for woman hood.if she starves her young body of the vitimins and minerals she needs for this process she could not only stunt her growth, but her developement too.She may simply need to change her lifesyle or cut out certain sugars and sweets to obtain a more svelt figure but you asked if she was fat. it doesnt matter what we say if she sees herself as fat. nothing will change her mind. talk to her school councilor and other proffessionals try to encourage her to get help with her image problem. i am 99% certain that her weight is not an issue. be there for her and reassure her that she is as "normal and healthy" as anyone else you know. simply because she is. she may want to be grown up but she really is still just a child and her figure even her thought processes will change as her hormones settle down. try to get her to be a little more patient. i am not saying avoid the issue but perhaps spend more time on other things, it will help her to stop focussing or obsessing on trivial excuses to work at when she doesnt need to. besides weight isnt important tone is far more important. the reason i say this? fat tissue is flaccid and bulky. muscle tissue is hard and dense therefore heavier. so you see, stature poise and muscle ratio are far more important.

  • Her BMI would be around 23. That is considered a normal body mass index. In other words, she is at a normal weight for her height. I could not call her fat, because she is not.

  • Take her somewhere there is alot of fat people.

Let her see the difference for herself.

  • Expose her to other cultures that embrace curves.

  • Noooo She not fat when i was he age ( last year) i wieghed MORE then her.....
