  • Could it be a faulty DVD player?

The disks that don't play so well, do they have special audio coding, like 5.1 or surround sound or something else rather than straightforward stereo?

Perhaps your DVD player is not ablw to handle the really complicated signals or you don't have enough speakers.

My DVD player will output in stereo but it has the capability to output in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound as well... I just need the 5.1 speaker system...

Go into the menu system and make sure that stereo is selected by default...

  • The sound codec is on it's way out this is controlled by a chip and the chip must be faulty get a new dvd player it would be cheaper.

  • Did you buy your DVD player from Argos or your local supermarket?

Is it some "no-name" brand like Tevion, Proline, Beko, Venturer, Mikomi, etc?

If you answered 'Yes' to either of those questions, then that is your problem...

  • change the sound dif on the options menu to stereo

  • What is a "dvd cassette"?
