Currently, no one is able to say conclusively that "stress causes miscarriages," but it also doesn't seem accurate to say that it's a myth that stress can cause pregnancy loss. The truth is that it is possible that anxiety and stress could be linked with miscarriage but the evidence is too unclear to draw conclusions.
It is unlikely that normal everyday stress and worries, such as worrying about your finances or deadlines at work, would have any effect on pregnancy, but it is possible that major levels of stress could cause miscarriage or later pregnancy loss.
But regardless of the link with miscarriage, stress during pregnancy may affect the baby in other ways also and it's always a good idea to make stress management a priority in your life.
Yes, miscarriage can happen for a variety of reasons, especially due to stress. As far as if a death in the family or divorce can cause it, it depends on how much stress that adds to your body, and how emotionally strong you are to handle it. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant, and loss my Dad to cancer 3 weeks ago. While it has been emotionally draining and stressful, I had a strong family and friend supportive net, so I was able to cope with the loss....and keep my baby safe.
Yes, stress can cause miscarriages to occur. When pregnant one must have control over their stress or stressors. The fact of the matter is a woman's body is under stress already due to the many changes it is undergoing to carry a child.I say this from experience and unfortunately it's easier said then done. If someone or something is stressing you and they will not stop... then I would advise you for the sake of the pregnancy and your own piece of mind to avoid it for the time being. If the symptoms persist I would go to a doctor as soon as possible due to your history. I wish you the best of luck and remember take it easy.
There really isn't a conclusive way to tell if stress CAUSES miscarriages, however it is proven that stress does cause hormonal fluctuations and other physical responses; which could potentially be a contributing factor to miscarriage.
However, miscarriages in the first 12 weeks are usually caused by a chromosomal abnormality in the growing fetus, and unfortunately are generally unavoidable.
Just take it easy and relax. Take care of yourself and that will ultimately provide the safest and healthiest environment for baby to develop.
