Typewriter Carriage Problem?

Most of the time, whenever I type a letter onto the paper, the carriage slides all the way to the left. I have to put my left hand next to the carriage to stop it from sliding. Sometimes if I keep it from sliding off, the carriage gets stuck and the space bar won't work anymore, I'd have to slide the carriage over one notch manually. Is this something that can be easily fixed, or would I have to take it to a repair shop?

It's a Generation 3000 model.

    This can be fixed, but only by someone in a repair shop. Typewriters are definitely worth keeping. Get this one fixed, and it will serve you many more years.
