Calc help: How to do this natural log (ln)?

5+ln(x+4) = 3

I'm just a little confused. Thanks!

Comments

  • 5 + ln(x + 4) = 3

    ln(x + 4) = 3 - 5

    ln(x + 4) = -2

    Antilog.

    x + 4 = e^(-2)

    x = e^(-2) - 4

    e = 2.71828...

    Hence

    x = 2.71828...^(-2) - 4

    x = 0.135335283.... - 4

    x = -3.864664717...
