Do auto power locks freeze up in winter?

First car I ever had with them, & am just a little concerned about this.......

  • The answer is NO, however moisture does freeze so if you wash your car or snow/ice melts then refreezes the locks themselves freeze. I learned this in January this year with my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix the dealers solution was remote key-less starter for car and heater. Price 199.99 installed well worth it in my opinion for no worries of opening. Hope this helps

  • Yes,if all the power wires are frozen the locks wont work

  • they will only freeze up if water gets in the mechanism and the temperature drops below freezing

  • Mine never have. I guess it depends how cold it gets where you are. If you are too far up north I imagine that everything freezes.

  • POWER LOCKS WILL NOT FREEZE BUT THE MOISTURE THAT GETS INTO THEM WILL.

GET A CAN OF SILICONE SPRAY HANDY.

  • No they will not they are power by electric it your battery go dead they will not work right, that the reason why that may not work.

  • no different then regular locks...iv had them 25 yrs no problems

  • Yes, they can and do. As do power windows.

  • not usually (I've never seen it)
