When applying mascara, wiggle the wand at the base of the lashes. It's the mascara placed near the roots (not the tips) that gives the illusion of length.
Thin, short brushes are best. A thinner brush allows you to get into the corner of eyes. Short brushes give you more control.
Give a few coats to the edges by blinking. Blink onto the brush to give ends an extra coat.
Powder under the eye before applying mascara. Sometimes mascara smudges because it's attracted to oily concealer or eye creams.
Use an eyelash curler Curling lashes gives eyes the appearance of being wider and brighter. Shoot warm air from your blowdryer on the mascara curler for 3-5 seconds to warm it up before curling lashes. Touch it first to make sure it's not too hot. It's a myth that you have to curl lashes before you apply mascara. You can curl lashes after mascara application, just make sure the mascara is dry first. Shu Uemura makes the most popular eyelash curler on the market ($18-$22).
Zig-zag the wand. Zig-zagging the wand back and forth during application helps cut down clumps.
For a dramatic look, apply mascara only to the upper lashes. To make eyes seem wider, apply to the bottom, too. But make sure you give lashes a light touch. Not great at getting those bottom lashes? Try putting a tissue under them before application.
Use a mascara primer. Primers coat lashes and separate them before you apply mascara. Makeup artists swear by mascara primer. I tried it and like it, but because it's an added step, I usually use primer only on special occasion when I spend more time on my makeup.
Want that 2nd coat? Just make sure to do it before the first coat dries, otherwise you'll get clumps.
Do NOT pump wand in and out of the tube. This only introduces air into the tube, which will cause your mascara to dry out sooner than it should.
Another smudge-proof tip -- bend the wand. A top makeup artist once gave his secret to his steady hand: he always bends his wand at a right angle.
Wait five seconds before blinking. You don't want to paint your lids, do you?
When I put on mascara I start with the top lashes..Dip the wand, but don't pump it rather twirl it inside the bottle, pumping wont add mascara to the applicator but push air into the bottle causing it to dry out faster...Anyways On the top lashes and on top of the lashes, apply by starting at the base, where you have the eyeliner and wiggle the applicator at the roots, this will give them more volume and keep them separated. Apply to both the top of the lashes and underneath....The bottom lashes dips the applicator swipe from underneath your lashes then use the tip of the applicator to apply a coat of mascara on the top part of your bottom lashes....

I recommend you use waterproof mascara. If you're blonde, use a dark brown mascara, it looks more natural.
All the mascaras by covergirl with the rubber wand are AMAZING. They have zero clumps.
Here is how you get super long, thick eyelashes:
1. Rinse and dry around your eyes.
2. Curl your top lashes with an eyelash curler for 15 seconds per eye.
3. Hold the mascara wand over your eye so the fat end is over the outside corner of your eye and the skinny end is over the inside corner of your eye.
4. Wiggle the brush back at forth at the root of your eyelashes for volume. Swipe the wand up to the tips of your eyelashes.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with your other eye. Allow the mascara to dry for about 30 seconds.
6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 if you want to add a second coat.
Good luck!

~ Stand in a bright light with a clean mirror
~ Brush your fingers around your eyes to remove any gunk
~ Take the brush out of the tube and brush the end on the top of the tube to remove any big clumps of mascara
~ Open your eyes really wide and lean closer to the mirror
~ Start at the 'roots' and in a quick stroke, brush it up the lashes
~ Repeat this process a few times
~ Wait a minute, then clamp your eyes together really tightly. This will remove any excess.
Don't put it on the bottom lashes 'cause it looks a bit scary.
Hope this helped x
1. I curl my lashes (if you do it after you apply mascara you take the chance of ripping out lashes that might stick to the curling wand)
2. I tilt my head up
3. I wiggle the mascara brush up from the base of my lashes starting close to my nose working my way out
with a mascara wand?? is that what you're asking or like from root to tip?? like that? well that's how i do it. and i always put it on last.
i take a bit of it, and close my eye shut and appy it, and then open my eye,and keeping blinking when i put it on, if that makes sense
what i do is putt it up by my eyelash and blink
with a spoon...lol...and you get voloume...
