What helps you remember the difference between ser and estar are these acronyms:
Ser: TODO*: (time/date, origin, description, occupation, and the * means event taking place in. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS PLACE OR POSITION. A place can be a park, an event taking place in is a wedding in the park.)
Estar: PLACE: (position, location, action, condition, emotion. Position is a chair "positioned" underneath a desk, location is the classroom. Condition can be like being sick, and emotion is happy or something.)
