I don't like it on either gender really. I just don't like the name. But I'd say boy. Nothing about it is feminine. It is definitely a boys name. The only Sean's I've met have been boys. Just because a name can be used for a girl, doesn't mean it should be. If you have to ask which gender it sounds better on, don't use it.
Iv heard it on both boys and girls but i like it better with boys... however Shauna is wide open for girls...also ever consider a different spelling with a slightly different sound like Shown?

The name Sean reminds me of Boy Meets World but his name was spelled Shawn
I personally prefer the spelling Sean and I've only heard the name used on boys.
