How do you solve this algebra problem?

y= -|x-4|

thanks so much.

  • y= -x+4

    l l means absolute value meaning any number inside it is positive so removing it you will have x-4 if you multiply it by - you will get -x +4 ok.

  • y and x must be each less than 4 then:

    y= -x+4

    y+x=4

  • it changes to

    y=-x+4 or -y=-x+4

    y=x-4

    i don't know what else to say. you cant solve a problem like this. after this you need to graph it.

  • okay so the two possibiliites are y=x-4 and y=-(x-4)..

  • y = -sqrt((x-4)^2)

  • it is solved

    but you could graph it
