Romos new overplayed contract?
I mean could alot less money have still worked? I'm a Dallas fan but ill be the first to say romo is no elite quarterback and does not deserve 108 mil for 6 years. Lucky to be worth half that. I think it's better if they saved the salary for other positions and try to just win in the playoffs. Romo will never get through the playoffs unless Dallas can improve their o line. If they could do good in the playoffs endorsements could and will most likely follow giving him back what he didn't really need In the contract

Romo is only one year younger than Carson Palmer whom many think is old as hell.
I mean, Tony is a good player, but I don't think his performance over the years merits the contract extension he had just signed.
While I'm completely on board with the whole "players don't win championships; teams do" mantra, some players step up their game in the playoffs (Eli, Flacco, etc.), while others seem to falter. Tony Romo falls under the latter.
Romo is a top-10 QB in the League, but the contract he received -- especially at his age -- is something only reserved for top-5 QBs.
It's better having him than being one of the teams looking for a QB in the draft or FA. Look at the Cardinals, Jets, Jags, etc. If thats the cost of holding down a great QB, then so be it. It actually freed up cap space this year by signing the extension. It was worth it for them. Honestly, would you rather be in the Jaguars position, or have Romo for 6 years (though if he underperforms, it will be more like 2 or 3)? I'd certainly take Romo.
Actually, it depends on his work ethic during every offseason. If Tony Romo works hard and performs very well in practice every day, he will greatly improve his chances of becoming an elite NFL quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in the future.
I think it's way too many years. If anything, it should be a 3 year 50 million contract. But who knows, maybe now that he's got his big contract, he can put that out of his mind an focus on accuracy.
They pretty much paid for more chances to miss the post season
he has 1 playoff win
He'll still be lucky to see half of it. He has to play like Rodgers to get that money. That's how these contracts work.
