Is there some way I can take any train or bus from Toronto in the morning, reach Niagara Falls, take a 3-4 hour break to visit the falls, and then continue the journey to Rochester?
There is a MAJOR PROBLEM with MOST of the connections on this trip if you want to make them all on the same day. Below I explain why four of the most common choices will give you no more than 1.5 hours to view the falls. Then I will describe one best choice that will give you 8.5 hours to view the falls.
According to the first source link I posted below, Amtrak has only one train each day of the week between Niagara Falls Ontario and Rochester New York. It is:
- leaves Niagara Falls at 10:18am
- arrives in Rochester at 2:33pm every day of the week.
So having at least 4 hours to view Niagara Falls, you would have to arrive in Niagara Falls by 6am. But there is a major problem trying to accomplish this on the same day. See below for details.
According to the second source link I posted below, if you take a combination of GO bus and train, the first train/bus each Monday through Friday is:
- GO train leaves Toronto (Union Station) at 6:13am
- GO train arrives Burlington station at 7:10am
- transfer to GO bus that leaves Burlington station at 7:21am
- GO bus arrives at Niagara Falls Ontario at 8:36am.
This gives you about 1 hour and 15 minutes to view the falls if there are no delays.
And the first train/bus each Saturday and Sunday is
- GO train leaves Toronto (Union Station) at 7:43am
- GO train arrives Burlington station at 8:42am
- transfer to GO bus that leaves Burlington station at 8:53am
- GO bus arrives at Niagara Falls Ontario at 10:08am
This gives you no time to view the falls.
And according to the third source link I posted below, if you take the Coach Canada bus, the first bus each day of the week is:
- leave Toronto (610 Bay Street) at 7:00am
- arrives at Niagara Falls Ontario at 8:40am
This gives you about 1 hour and 15 minutes to view the falls if there are no delays.
And according to the fourth source link I posted below, if you take VIA rail, the first train each day of the week is:
- leaves Toronto (Union Station) at 8:20am
- arrives at Niagara Falls Ontario at 10:16am
This gives you no time to view the falls.
And according to the fifth source link I posted below, if you take MegaBus, the first bus each day of the week is:
- leaves Toronto (610 Bay Street) at 7:00 am
- arrives at Niagara Falls Ontario at 8:40am
This gives you about 1 hour and 15 minutes to view the falls.
And according to the sixth source link I posted below, if you take Greyhound bus, the first bus each day of the week is
- leaves Toronto (610 Bay Street) at 12:01am
- arrives Niagara Falls Ontario at 1:35am
This gives you about 8.5 hours to view the falls.
The next Greyhound bus leaves Toronto at 9:15am which would leave you with no time to view the falls and you would miss the Amtrak to Rochester.
So what other options to you have?
You can:
- take the Greyhound/Amtrak combination, or
- rent a car to drive yourself, or
- stay in a hotel for one night in Niagara Falls Ontario, or
yes take the go train to Niagara falls or a go bus. then get on the train in Niagara Falls Canada and go to rodchester ny. u need to check the time of the amtrack to rodchester though might be only one train a day.
