How do you write a great essay?

Well by great i mean passable. and by passable i mean a b. so my english teacher is having us read the book Shades of Gray. < not 50!!! haha well we have to do that essay, and embed the quotes. the thesis is that will undergoes a change in his beliefs about his uncle Jed, if you haven't read the book, which you probably haven't, its not a great book, don't read it. Its not worth your time. well anyways explain what embedding your quotes means and maybe give me an example or something? and what usually goes into an essay.

  • Embedding quotes means to use quotes in a sentence that does not use:

    the text says...

    on page x it says...

    the author states...

    etc.

you would insert the quote into a sentence that if read aloud wouldn't sound like you did

Ex: As supported by source x good fathers "provide both emotional and physical support to their children"

Essay: Intro- basic background info about thesis and maybe quick 1-2 sentence summary of book thesis, Bodies- usually 2-3 paragraphs depending on how many sub claims you have to support your thesis, Conclusion- restate thesis and sub claims using different wording concluding/ wrap up sentence

    Good luck
