How do I repressurise a combi boiler?

The pressure is low (below 0.5 bar) so I turned the filling loop but water started leaking. Is there something I need to connect up? Thanks in advance.

Update:

The silver flexible pipe with a valve is the filling loop...I've already bled the radiators which is what caused the pressure to drop in the first place...and I was trying to top up by turning the valve which is when the water started leaking so I turned it off.

  • . The pressure probably dropped because there's a leak or crack in the system; maybe a pipe or weld joint.

Best to ring up a plumber.

But first, check out the 'howto' site below.

"...look underneath the boiler and see if you can find a silver flexable pipe this may have one or 2 valves either end turn them on slowly until the pressure is about 1bar and then shut them off." ....... or from the 'piston' site: "...Is it a combi boiler? If so you need to top up and pressurise the system then bleed it. The noise in the pump is probably air cavitating. Technique is to pressurise, bleed then repressurise to ensure the system is full." ...

This site has some good info @ http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.htm... ; ....

You might want to Google "repressurise combi boiler" .
