Acer Aspire 5520 Factory Data Reset?
Hi! I got an Acer Aspire 5520 given to me.... there is some problems with the computer and I would like to do a complete factory reset but the person who gave it to me set a eDisk password and cannot remember it and I do not have a recovery disk.... the computer is no longer under warranty so tech support will not be able to give me the password either. Is there any way in this situation to do a complete factory data reset?

Hi..
Yes erecovery management can be run from start up Alt + F10..
Recover to factory from partition image (No CD/DVD needed) .
(Select factory from top of the list).
D2D must be enabled for this to work.
F2 at start up > Main > D2D >Enable > Exit saving changes.
The default password is "000000" (6 zeros)..
But what if the password has been changed for eRecovery. ??
pqservice is the hidden partition that contains the eRecovery password..
Download and burn a linux disc / Hiren's BootCD
And navigate to pqservice AIMDRS.DAT file and "Open with" Textpad / notepad.
if you are looking for the mbr exe to restore the
alt F10. You need to look into the PQservices or a
back up disc that was made before losing this
function. The file to look for is mbrwrdos.exe,
you will find this in file acer\tools\mbrwrdos. To
run this you will need to be in dos. Once ran this should rebuild the mbr to allow the
recovery to work.
enter the bios
enable D2D(disk to disk)
save and restart pc
at the logo press ALT-F10
