Need PS3 System Help!!!!?
i recently called playstation customer support on a problem i had with my ps3 and they told me that my motherboard is basically ****** up! and i have to send it in for repairs and this will cost me $130. would it be cheaper to just buy a new one. if so can i transfer my old ps3 game saves to a new system? the extent of the motherboard problem is that i cant turn on my system.
what should i do? by the way i have the first generation bulky ps3 and ps2 bundle playstation 3 system.
what should i do?

im afraid its not possible to restore the game saves. although the game saves are saved to the playstations hard drive from what i remember being told by sony last time i rang them the data on the hard drive is encrypted and can only be read by the ps3 it was formatted by. so if u get a new ps3 and put the old hard drive into it it wont work.
perhaps sony have a way of restoring the data if you were to send the hard drive to them but for you right now its not possible to get the game saves off the hard drive. if you get that very model of ps3 repaired (by that i mean not getting a refurbished model that sony have ready to send out) it may be possible. if u have the yellow light problem like i did in wehre the system wouldnt turn on there is a fix it isnt permanent but it will give u enough time to back up your game saves to a memory stick
