How do you do a real bunny hop?

Do you lift up the front end then the back end or do you lift up both ends simultaneously.Just asking because i can do it either way but it is easier for me to lift up both ends.

Update:

I am 13 and my bike is a Dyno which seems heavy to me and it is easier for me to do it on my friends Haro bike.

  • I have been BMXing for 10 years and I can tell you that a bunny hop is when you lift up your front end then your back end. The other guy said thats called a wheelie hop however there is no such thing as a wheelie hop and that just sounds stupid. When bunny hopping you want to pull up real hard with the front then bring your back end up to that same hight.

  • Hey there! Technically, when you lift up the front wheel first, I would call that a "wheelie hop". When you lift both wheels at the same time,

I've always refered to that as a "bunny hop". Some cycling books (especially from the UK) are exactly opposite. It really doesn't matter what you call it, either one requires precise timing and skill. Make sure

you push down on the bars/pedals before pulling up (think of sucking your arms and legs up) just enough to clear the obstacle. Don't try

hopping a curb until your sure you can clear it! If you stuff the front tire

at speed, it's YOU who'll be doing the hopping....right over your bars!

  • Well there is a dance called the bunny hop, it's done like this. Standing in place, in a line, arms outstretched holding the waist of the person in front of you. Kick out your right leg twice. Then kick out your left leg twice. 3 short hops backward, then 3 long hops forward. Then you start over. Of course it help to have the music.
