who do you think is better nas common or mos def?
i real havent had a chance to listen to common yet but i plan to a friend of mine said he pretty nice i like some mos def song like mathmatics nas is kinda boring some times but i love that songs i gave you power & what goes around

Nas is no 1 because his lyrics are powerful and innovative and his flows are murderous. He may receive flack for his mainstream material, but he still proves he is a top 5. And also because Illmatic and Stillmatic are albums that cannot be compared with Common and Mos Def.
Common is no 2 because he has remained almost consistent and decent. Not all his albums are as outstanding as Nas though, like UMC. Also, Common's flow doesn't vary much like Nas'. Common's best albums are Be and Like Water For Chocolate, but even those cannot match up to Nas' success.
Mos Def is no 3 because he has released the least number of albums with only one standout (Black On Both Sides), and one near-excellent (The Ecstatic). Apart from BlackStar, the rest is from avergae to garbage.
Mos Def > Nas > Common

I've got Nas 1st because Illmatic is one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums ever recorded. I don't care much for the rest of his stuff, but Illmatic is so good, it makes Nas legendary no matter what sh*t he releases nowadays.
Mos Def is my second choice because his work with Talib Kweli was legendary and 'The Ecstatic' is one of my favourite albums of this decade.
Common is third because the only album of his that I like is 'Be'...and even that's got Kanye West on it (not good.) But his stuff's still good...just not up to Nas or Mos Def's high standards. Oh...but you best avoid 'Universal Mind Control'...that album is a train wreck.
