Cream cheese or Philadelphia?

I've found a recipe for cake pops that uses full fat cream cheese and i've heard some people say that philadelphia soft cheese is just the same but that was for cheese cake can it be used for chocolate or vanilla cake pops too because i don't want them having a cheese taste thanks x

  • Full fat cream cheese comes in lots of brand names. If I can afford Philly cream cheese I buy it. However, the store brands are very good too.

A rose is a rose by any other name..............

  • The only thing I know for certain is that "Philadelphia" is a brand name. They package the Cream Cheese! If you want something other than Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese, you must get something else.

Why not do what most other people do when making cake pops? and get a can of pre made frosting to blend with your crumbled cake and squish it into balls. melt another can of the gunk and dip your cake balls in it, then stick sticks in the melted frosting and into the cake balls.

  • I think that philadelphia is too tangy so i would stick with the recipe and go with cream cheese

  • philly
