I think I'm a pathological liar?

Throughout my whole life I have noticed that I lie constantly for no reason. These lies are elaborate and often are critical of myself, meaning that I tell people that I have diseases or disorders that I really don't. I also tell people about places I've been or people I've met, bear in mind that I don't really go anywhere or do anything. I am also extremely shy and don't really have a lot of friends so I can't tell them that I have been lying to them. They would hate me if I did. I am almost 16 years old and can't tell my parents. What should I do?

  • I lie all the time too. To my parents, to my teachers, to everyone. Even for no reason; I'll tell my mom I had a tuna fish sandwich for lunch instead of turkey just for the heck of it. My advice? Don't tell anyone you've been lying, especially your friends. Just kind of try to slowly tell less and less lies, and then make up more lies in order to get out of the original lies that you told. Such as, "Yeah, I visited the doctor a couple days ago and they say I'm recovering from the disease. I'm really happy." Obviously "qualified psychiatrists" would vouch that this is a bad idea, but in some situations lying is the answer and that's just the truth of it. It's not like your lying is hurting anyone which would be a very different scenario. If you're good at lying, and can get away with it, you can lie to get yourself out of trouble and that's actually a good skill to have.

  • talk to a school councelor. This may help.

  • Is your question truthful ?

  • Your question was basically a nice way of telling all of us that you're a regular b*tch.
