You're in luck. As a matter of fact, there IS such a thing as a film negative scanner !!!! Scanners are becoming a LOT better these days...
you can get a dedicated film scanner, or a flatbed scanner.
However, you can just as easily take pictures with your film camera..and take the film to get developed, and while you are doing this, get the lab to put the images on a CD for you as well.....
ALL photolabs these days can do this for you...at a very reasonable cost. They can probably scan your negatives onto a CD as well.
Think about the costs involved. If you need to pay $500 bucks for a negative scanner....but can get all of your existing negatives scanned for like 50 bucks...which is better??? Guaranteed a PHOTOLAB is going to have a much better scanner than a $500 home use model !!!
Turn Negatives Into Digital
It's tough no matter how you approach it. I tried to scan negatives but couldn't get decent results, using a HP scanner, a few years ago. I tried different backing, etc. but no soap.
It seems crazy, but the best way is probably to print those negatives and scan the prints. But why bother? The old fashioned photo album is still useful.
You can put them on a CD or DVD without too much hassle, if you really want to view them on your TV set or PC.
yes there are scanners that scans negatives and scanners that have a neg.attatchment for negs.you can get a good one for about $300
